Dr. Avilasha Mohapatra

Dr. Avilasha Mohapatra is a dedicated ophthalmologist with a distinguished academic career at the premiere medical institutes of India. She holds specialized training in cataract, glaucoma, and medical retina, and is highly skilled in advanced ocular surgeries, patient management, and clinical research. Throughout her career, she has been recognized with numerous accolades, including a Gold Medal in Preventive and Social Medicine and multiple first-prize awards for her research and clinical case presentations.

She completed her MBBS from JIPMER - Puducherry, and pursued her residency in Ophthalmology at the prestigious Dr. R. P. Centre, AIIMS - New Delhi and later completed her DNB in Ophthalmology, National Board of Education Further honing her skills, she undertook Fellowship in Glaucoma, PGIMER – Chandigarh.

Her surgical expertise encompasses a wide range of procedures, from phacoemulsification and Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) to complex trabeculectomies and medical retina procedures such as Anti-VEGF injections.

Dr. Mohapatra is also a prolific researcher with several peer-reviewed publications in prestigious journals, including BMJ Case Reports and the American Journal of Ophthalmology. She has presented at various conferences at national and international level and has been awarded on many occasions including Best Paper Award in UKPGS 2026

She remains an active member of the All India Ophthalmological Society and other national and international ophthalmic socities and has contributed significantly to community eye care through screening camps for cataracts and diabetic retinopathy.
